We’ve all been there – you wake up one morning, head to the bathroom, and see the world’s biggest spot right on your cheek. It’s easy to start thinking “why me, why right before my important meeting/date/birthday” – but have you taken the time to sit back, look and your diet and think what might have caused it?
We’re not saying you should cut out all the food in this list (a treat or 8 are always welcome in our books) but these snacks have been proven to lead to more breakouts on your skin.
Fast foods
The excess amounts of oil in fast food can lead to more spots popping up on your face. The levels of grease, sugars, and carbohydrates can be making your skin go crazy with excess grease and sebum.
Chocolate
The amount of sugar in our favourite snack could be causing your breakouts if you’re eating too much. Your body responds to sugar by cranking up the insulin levels, which also increases the oil level in your skin – leading to those pesky spots.
Dairy
If you find that drinking or eating a lot of dairy products leads to small breakouts or even milia, you may have a dairy intolerance.
Fizzy drinks
The same sugary culprit in chocolate is giving you the same effect from too many fizzy drinks. Limiting the number of soft drinks you’re having could not only help with breakouts but also help with your tooth and bone help.
We know this can sound negative, and we don’t want you to think that you can never eat the foods on the list out of fear of a breakout! Of course, all these in moderation are fine, but if you’re looking for replacements for these, try: Dark chocolate, nuts, fruits, popcorn, or teas.
Now go eat yourself to perfect skin, girl.
