We can’t be the only people who spend hours a day on Tik Tok looking at the newest make-up tutorials, skincare routines and beauty trends – and if you’re the same, you’ve definitely seen the Gua Sha all over your For You Page.
The Gua Sha is a face sculpting tool that has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for 700 years. The tool is used in a sweeping motion across the face and is said to help create a more defined facial structure and boosting circulation, as well as having origins in combatting heat stroke and viruses!
You can find Gua Sha’s all over the place in recent months, including beauty retailers like Beauty Bay and Asos, so it’s easier than ever to try it out for yourself. There are hundreds of videos of beauty fanatics helping Gua Sha newbies and showing their journeys and techniques, with some incredible results!
Thinking of trying a Gua Sha out for yourself? The Shortlyst’s got you – here are our top tips to keep in mind:
Always move out in a pulling motion, away from the centre of your face
Never use on a dry canvas, make sure you have used oil or moisturised before
Don’t push too hard on the tool, this can cause bruising. Try a ‘firm’ pressure instead.
